Description :
The unsteady flow field with a
moving indentation is calculated
with a new numerical method , the
Flux Vector Splitting method
for incompressible flows. The abone
visualization for a period of
the phenomenon represents clearly
the propagating train of waves
that is developed in the core flow
downstream the indentation ,
the closed eddies that are forrned
in the separated flow regions
on the walls beneath the crests
and above the troughs of the wary
core flow , and their 'doubling'
later in the cycle.
Calculation conditions :
Time dependent indentation on the
wall
Re=(U*a)/v = 507 ,
Str=a/(U*T) , e=0.38
a : height of the channel at the
inlet
U : mean inlet velocity
e : amplitude parameter (the
maximum fraction of the channel width occupied for the indentation)
