Design and construction of a hydroturbine model of cross flow (Banki) type

A model 12 kW power Cross flow turbine was designed, constructed and tested by the Laboratory of Hydraulic Turbomachines, NTUA. The performance curves of the turbine were obtained using two different means of flow control, and the flow was analyzed both numerically and experimentally. For the experimental analysis of the flow field, Pitot tubes and laser doppler velocimetry were used, while the pressure distribution on the turbine walls was obtained in detail, in order to compare the results with the numerical data.
